The Petrified Muse is the blog of Peter Kruschwitz, Professor of Classics at the University of Reading and Fellow of the Pontifical Academy for Latin (Pontificia Academia Latinitatis).
My main research interests are Latin Language and Literature, especially of the Republican period.
I have published widely on issues of Latin linguistics (broadly conceived), Roman drama and Roman song culture, and Latin epigraphy, with particular emphasis on Roman wall inscriptions (graffiti and dipinti) and Roman verse inscriptions (Carmina Latina Epigraphica).
